Advantages and disadvantages of transition lenses

ADVANTAGES


UV rays can cause macular degeneration and cataracts. Transition lenses offer 100% UVA and UVB protection making them as good as the sun block or sunglasses you use for protection.
 Since they adjust automatically to improve contrast and protect your eyes against glare, they are great for reducing eye fatigue and strain.

They offer a 2-in-1 solution in the sense that you do not have to carry clear eyeglasses and a pair of sunglasses separately anymore.

The time required for them to get dark according to the intensity of light and to get clear does not exceed 1 minute.


DISADVANTAGES


One disadvantage is that occasionally they might not transition all the way to a transparent state indoors if the room is especially bright.

 Another disadvantage is that transition lenses do not always get as dark as regular sunglasses and might not provide enough protection for sensitive eyes.
